3M™ Littmann® Stethoscopes offer the high quality that medical professionals expect, and each replacement part and accessory meets the same demanding standards. Stethoscope spare parts are conveniently packaged in kits that correspond to our stethoscope models, Littmann stethoscopes.

Classic II Infant Stethoscope Spare Parts Kit contains:

one floating diaghragm for the stethoscope chestpiece
a black rim for assembly of the diaphragm to the chestpiece
a Gray rim for assembly of the diaphragm to the chestpiece

How often should a stethoscope be cleaned?

In most cases, stethoscopes can be used on exposed skin (non-essential contact), so the guidelines suggest cleaning it "after use on each patient" rather than "before use on each patient.". In cases of semi-critical contacts, such as when using it on skin that is not preserved, cleaning the stethoscope "before use on each patient" is advised. In research, healthcare professionals anonymously examined the frequency and methods of stethoscope cleaning. The results showed fewer than 4% of individuals cleansed their stethoscopes according to CDC standards, and 82% did not disinfect them.

How do I clean my stethoscope?

The cleaning of hands, surfaces, and stethoscopes in hospitals is done with the use of disinfectant gel. Some of these products can damage the rubber parts of stethoscopes as well as some plastics. Our tests have shown that even the the diaphragms can be damaged. For the proper cleaning – disinfection of the stethoscope, only the following are suggested: Use 70% isopropyl alcohol solution on a cloth or pre-packaged wipe, and wipe every surface of the stethoscope that comes in contact with patients, between each assessment. Do not use hand sanitizer or wipes with multiple ingredients, as they may include other agents that could damage parts of the stethoscope.

The engraving of the stethoscope on the tubing will impact the durability of the stethoscope, this is why we do not offer it.
