1. Price
The Littmann Classic III ranges between 98-106 EUR and the MDF MD One at 99 EUR. Most of the Classic III stethoscoopes cost 98 EUR with only a few costing more. They pretty much cost the same so there is no comparison between the two.
2. Weight
The Littmann Classic III is 180gr in weight. One apple would weigh about that. On the other hand, the MDF MD One is slightly heavier than a pool ball and weights 190gr.
The MDF MD One is slightly heavier, and if you like to hang your stethoscope on your neck, you would definitely feel it sitting there on you. In comparison, the Littmann Classic III is suitable in weight and you won’t notice it at all if you carry it around all day. The Classic III wins this round
3. Acoustics
Both the Littmann Classic III and the MDF MD One obtain a rating of 4 out of 5 stars for their acoustics. They both offer excellent, powerful, clean sound.
4. Length
The MDF MD One is 78 cm long compared to the 71 cm of the Littmann Classic III. The Littmann Classic III, according to some, could have used a little more length to reduce the amount of bending required, but the MDF One, according to others, is excessively long and when used, tends to produce noises when it scuffs the patient’s bed sheets or the doctor’s arms. You might enjoy it if you enjoy using long stethoscopes or if you are a particularly tall person. But in general, Classic III ‘s length is more ideal.
5. Customization
There is not much to do with a Classic III in terms of customization apart from the color and of course the laser engraving. The MD One on the other side comes in many different colors and patterns coupled with the custom laser engraving so if you like to set your self apart the MD One is for you
6. Spare Kit
The Littmann Classic III has Soft Eartips, Non-chill Rim, and User Manual on its spare kit. You can change also the pediatric diaphragm into a bell if you need to. The MDF MD One on the other hand, has 2 Sizes Ear Tips (Small and Large), Plastic Diaghpragm, Nametag, and User Manual. You can choose between a small, medium or large size ear tips, but due to the fact that the bell of the MDF MD One is not convertible it doesn’t have a Non-chill rim included.
7. Warranty
The Littmann Classic III has a 5-Year warranty for manufacturer defects while the MDF MD One has a lifetime warranty and free parts for life, which is quite fantastic!
Conclusion: Overall Score
The Littmann Classic III garnered 38.5/50 Stars in my review while MDF MD One took home 32.5/50 Stars.
